Female / Treble Voices

• Soprano

  • Range: C4 – C6 (sometimes B3 – F6, depending on ability)

  • Highest voice type, often sings melody lines.

• Mezzo-soprano

  • Range: A3 – A5 (sometimes G3 – C6)

  • Medium female voice, between soprano and contralto.

• Contralto (Alto)

  • Range: F3 – F5 (sometimes E3 – G5)

  • Lowest female voice type, darker tone.

Male Voices

• Tenor

  • Range: B2 – B4 (sometimes C3 – D5)

  • Highest natural male voice.

• Baritone

  • Range: G2 – G4 (sometimes F2 – A4)

  • Medium male voice, between tenor and bass.

• Bass

  • Range: E2 – E4 (sometimes C2 – G4)

  • Lowest male voice type.
